For the sixth consecutive year has been scheduled a concert at the church of Santa Maria of San Martin de Castañeda, Zamora.

The concert is part of the cultural activities organized by those responsible for the Atlantic Romanesque Intervention Plan in order to boost knowledge, promotion and dissemination of the heritage of the areas where the work has been carried out.

The concert is going to be held by Vandalia Trio on Wednesday, August 28th, at 8.30p.m. Entrance is free until full capacity is reached.

The Atlantic Romanesque Plan has carried out several campaigns and works which involved transforming the sacristy of the church of San Martín de Castañeda into a chapel adapted to the needs and uses of the worshipers, the setting of an information point for visitors and most recently, the restoration of the roofs. The monitoring of the building to control and improve the preventive conservation and also ensuring power efficiency is also a point to be highlighted.

The works of the team and those responsible for the Plan still focus the importance of the church as a reference point for cultural promotion. Several concerts have been held at the church in the past years by groups like Dulsica, Early Music Group of the University of Valladolid, Quartet NEUMA, Scherzo Chamber Music Group, Moisés Molín or the pianist Manuel Valencia

This summer, the concert is going to be held by Vandalia Trio, with Irene Jiménez, Fernando García and Pablo Estébanez - flute, violin and double bass - presenting “Origin and Fusion” and interpreting classic pieces by C.P. Emanuel Bach or Dimitri Shostakovich, along with popular songs by Isaac Albéniz, boleros like Lágrimas Negras or Bésame Mucho and Compay Segundo Chan Chan.

The three members of Vandalia Trio have wide classical training and orchestra and solo experience allowing them to fuse symphonic music and other styles such as jazz, latin, funk and flamenco. They also use electronic resources like the Loop Station or other techniques used for the search of new sounds.

The group has been invited to participate on Radio Nacional Programmes on several occasions and has also performed in different cities in Spain. Furthermore, they have been awarded First Prize at “Jacobo Soto de Carmona” Chamber Music Contest this year and were also awarded Third Prize at “Abate Marchena” Chamber Music Contest.
