2017 Christmas concert

19/12/2017

On the 22nd of December, at 19h30, a Christmas concert will take place, performed by the Scherzo Música de Cámara group. Entry will be free of charge until the full capacity of the room.

The concert gives continuity to the workshops and guided tours that took place last week. All these activities are aimed at increasing the awareness of the Atlantic Romanesque Intervention Plan, promoted by the Junta de Castilla y León, Iberdrola España and the Ministerio de Cultura de Portugal, in collaboration with the dioceses of each territory, and developed in Spain by the Fundación Santa María la Real.

According to the initiative's team, both the workshops and the guided tours that happened a few days ago had a very good reception, and they expect the concert to be a success as well. The workshops, aimed at explaining the main keys of the management of exhibitive spaces and small museums, have had the participation of around ten professionals, mayors of the area and cultural managers.

Students from the San Francisco School of the area participated in the guided visits in the morning and neighbors of the city in the afternoon. With activities adapted to each group and guided by specialized monitors, they were able to discover a pleasant and fun way to discover the history of the cathedral and of its different spaces, as well as understand the goals of the Atlantic Romanesque plan.

Christmas concert

On friday, the 22nd of December, the cathedral will once again the filled with life and music, thanks to the concert by the Scherzo Música de Cámara group which will take place at 19h30 and in which the quintet will perform a selection of twelve classic and christmas pieces by authors such as Mozart, Mendelssohn or Puccini. The entry will be free of charge until the capacity of the space is filled.

It is important to remember that every action developed by the the project “Catedral de Ciudad Rodrigo. La puerta del Reino” serves as an anticipation to the creation of an information and visitor reception center in the puerta del Perdón, of the cathedral, which will complete the previously performed actions aimed at improving the preventive conservation and energetic efficiency of the church.

The Atlantic Romanesque Plan is a trans-border cooperation project for the conservation of Cultural Heritage that includes projects of restoration and valuing of over 20 romanesque buildings located in the Spanish provinces of Zamora and Salamanca and in the Portuguese regions of Porto, Vila Real and Bragança.

The plan constitutes an example of institutional cooperation and public-private participation, since it is promoted by the Junta de Castilla y León, the Fundación Iberdrola and the Ministerio de Cultura de Portugal. The interventions in Spain have been entrusted to the Fundación Santa María la Real del Patrimonio Histórico and are developed in collaboration with the dioceses of each territory.
